Arrest warrant issued against a suspected supporter of the foreign terrorist organization “Islamic State (IS)”
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office today (5 June 2025) filed an arrest warrant with the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice against
the Russian citizen Akhmad E.
obtained.
The accused is strongly suspected of having supported a terrorist organization abroad as a young adult (Section 105 of the Juvenile Justice Act) (Section 129a Paragraph 1 No. 1, Paragraph 5, and Section 129b Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code). He is also accused of attempted membership in a terrorist organization abroad (Section 129a Paragraph 1 No. 1, Section 129b Paragraph 1, Sections 22 and 23 of the Criminal Code) and of preparing a serious act of violence endangering the state (Section 89a Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code).
The arrest warrant essentially charges the accused with the following:
Akhmad E. is a supporter of the ideology of the foreign terrorist organization “Islamic State (IS).” On their behalf, he translated propaganda material into Russian and Chechen. On February 20, 2025, he went to Berlin-Brandenburg Airport with the goal of traveling to the IS area of operations, joining the organization, and receiving military training. He was arrested on his way to boarding.
The accused has been in pre-trial detention since then. This was initially based on an arrest warrant issued by the Brandenburg an der Havel District Court on February 21, 2025. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the investigation conducted by the Brandenburg Public Prosecutor General’s Office. Akhmad E. was brought before the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice today. The arrest warrant issued by the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice replaces the one issued by the Brandenburg an der Havel District Court.
