A court in Celle has sentenced a man to six and a half years in prison for supporting Hezbollah and assisting in attempted murder linked to the group’s drone program.
Convictions and charges
The defendant was convicted of:
- supporting a terrorist organization
- aiding attempted murder
- multiple violations of European Union embargo regulations
According to the court, the man purchased equipment worth about €1 million, including electric motors, fuel, and propellers used for drones.
Equipment linked to drone attack in Israel
Prosecutors said some of the purchased components were used in a Hezbollah drone that exploded on Yom Kippur in 2024 at a retirement home in Herzliya.
The case highlighted how procurement networks in Europe can supply technological components for militant operations abroad.
German authorities have increasingly investigated such logistics networks linked to Hezbollah, which the European Union classifies as a terrorist organization.
