It was a motorist in the Franche-Comté capital who raised the alarm, disgusted by what he had just discovered. “This morning, I stopped at the ‘Avia’ station on Rue de Vesoul to get some fuel. Imagine my surprise when I noticed a sticker with nauseating undertones that had been placed directly on the pumps.”
The anonymous sticker displayed the slogan “It’s expensive – thank you Israel,” set against the country’s national flag, but above all featured a character reproducing the worst antisemitic stereotypes, rubbing his hands together. “I photographed this horror to warn more broadly within my circles and networks, so that we can all remain vigilant and remove this vile propaganda.”
At this stage, the individual has not found other copies and does not know how long this one had been there. However, in connection with geopolitical upheavals, amalgams, conspiracy theories, and hateful rhetoric have multiplied, including within so-called “left-wing” circles. This was evident during the “March of Solidarities” on March 15, where two individuals claiming affiliation with the group “Palestine Amitié” distributed leaflets before being removed by participants. Their materials, far from merely denouncing U.S. actions, called on people to join their Saturday gatherings while urging “victory for the Iranian government” and praising the “axis of resistance.”
