A large police force arrested a 21-year-old man on Saturday afternoon as part of a terrorism investigation. The man may have ties to the terrorist organisation Islamic State. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the National Unit of the Dutch police.
The heavily armed Special Interventions Service (DSI) raided his home on Ruysdaelbaan in Eindhoven on Saturday. According to Omroep Brabant, loud bangs could be heard in the area during the raid.
Following the operation, the property was searched, with electronic equipment likely seized in the process. Later that evening, a company specialising in the transport of hazardous materials reportedly attended the address. The 21-year-old suspect is due to appear before an examining magistrate on Tuesday.
Whether an attack has been prevented “is being investigated,” the spokesperson stated.
